These enameled bronze feathers were made as part of a crown for the god Amun. It consists of two feathers of twenty four palettes each, in two columns. They were enameled separately in dark-blue cobalt, white, and purple. The solar disk below seems covered with bees, which could be the bedding for enamel now missing. Below the sun-disk six horizontal channels were fully enameled and still visible. Dynasty 18.
This beautifully manufactured jewel-like statuette component was designed to be inserted at the top of the crown and maintained in position with the side brackets. We will never know whether it was prepared for a statuette that was never completed, or whether it became separated from the statuette upon which it rested.
