On a base loop of black (dark purple) glass with a symmetrically pointed cross section with flattened top and bottom, the craftsman wrapped six bands of green glass, bordered with a red thread. Deep grooves wrapping irregularly all around the external face of the armlet were cut into the black glass before the green and red banding was applied. A white weathering crust adheres to most of the inside, and some of the outside. Syria-Palestine, probably thirteenth to sixteenth century AD.
this kind of flattened, obliquely pointed cross section is well known in the Levant, but not in Egypt (Spaer 2001:203).
