This purplish translucent glass bracelet has a flattened profile, slightly convex on the ribbed external face (four uneven furrows). Time has adorned it with magnificent multicolor iridescence. Syria, 400-600 AD.
Bracelets with horizontal ribbing are known with a varying number of ribs. . . the largest number recorded comes from Resafa, Syria, made of purple glass. Recorded dates are invariably Byzantine and often rather late in this period (Spaer 2001:200).
Extensive pitting. Some white weathering crust.
