  This massive alabaster libation vessel dates back to Protodynastic times or early Dynasty 1, 3200-3000 BC.

“This vessel is made with two tubular handles, drilled out to accommodate a rope. The circular lip features a slot which received the string closure of a linen lid” (Schlögl,1978:26).

“Stone vase grinding developed as a full-time craft during the Gerzean and reached a peak under the first two dynasties” (Hoffman 1991:342).
