This rare engraved bronze mirror from Persia was once part of Lord Talbot’s collection. On a sumptuous background of variegated red patina, four ibexes leap across. Originally engraved in pre-Achemenid Persia (c. 1250), it appears to have been modified later with the addition of the central geometric motif (perhaps during the Persian Achemenid dynasty, 559-534 BC).
